BULA KAVANANDA, located in beautiful Seminole Heights Historic District, is a grateful new addition to the BULA tribe. Just across the bay from BULA KAFE, our flagship store located in St Pete, KAVANANDA features the finest Kava from Vanuatu, ZEAL Coffee, Ethnobotanical and Fine Teas, in addition to a unique variety of herbal tonic elixirs.

Our name is a synthesis of the Fijian name of our signature product, Kava, and the Sanskrit word Ananda, meaning “bliss”, thus “Kava-Bliss”.

BULA KAVANANDA offers an alcohol-free environment, a way to wind down and socialize in a relaxing, community-oriented environment. It’s a great alternative to the typical bar scene. Meet up with friends, have some quiet time, or bring your laptop. Free Wi-Fi is also available! Founded in 2009, BULA KAVANANDA educates and spreads our love of Kava and Plant Medicine on both coasts of Florida.

KAVA, THE ROOT OF RELAXATION

Kava is an ancient plant derived from the South Pacific Islands used for its relaxing effect for both social and ceremonial occasions. In the South Pacific, it’s used as a communal drink that has brought many tribes together for centuries and since 2009 has enhanced the lives of thousands here in St. Pete, thus creating a huge community that extends all over Pinellas County and beyond.

Kava is derived from the root of the pepper plant (Piper Methysticum) and is said to calm the central nervous system, relax muscles and promote positive emotions through the limbic system. Everyone drinks kava together at BULA KAVANANDA and cheers “BULA!” Many people find that Kava soothes the temperament, promotes a sense of calm for hours after imbibing kava.
